Subjects Taught
5th Grade ELA

I attended Murray State University where I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I began teaching at Lacy Elementary in 2010 where I taught 1st grade for 2 years. While at Lacy, in December of 2012, I finished my Masters Degree from Murray State in Reading & Writing. Upon completion of my Masters I took the Reading Specialist Endorsement Exam. After passing, I decided to teach Middle School. I taught 6th grade writing at County Middle for 2 years. Last school year, I made another move to County High, where I taught 12th grade transition reading for seniors that had not benchmarked on the ACT. After a lot of hard work, County High had the highest College and Career Readiness status in the school's history. I just completed part 3 out of 4 parts of my National Boards and I am looking forward to finishing the 4th part this school year. The experience of teaching elementary, middle, and high school was wonderful! However, I knew after experiencing different grade levels, intermediate in the elementary school was my true calling.

My name is Amanda Cornell. I am from Murray, Kentucky; I lived there my entire life until I took a teaching job here in Christian County two years ago. I am so excited to teach 5th grade at Indian Hills this year! I will be teaching English Language Arts: Reading, Writing, & Language. I met my husband, Luke, in college, and we were married October of 2012.  We have 3 large dogs that are our kids. We are members at Edgewood Baptist Church. I love to ride bikes, play golf with my husband, and cook.
